V: Globhood

Recipe

  1. Open and sort the bone pieces to create a set for each Glob. Each set should include:
    • 1 skull
    • 1 rib cage
    • 2 hands
    • 2 feet
    • 2 generic bones (legs)
  2. Each glob should also be roughly 10 gummy bears. Based on measuring container capacity, 2-3 Globs can be done at the same time (20/30 bears total) Microwave the bears in 10-15 second increments until melted. CAUTION: melted gummies will be very hot.
  3. Pour the melted gummies into the mold as neatly as possible.
    • The gummies will be very hot once melted so use the spatula or spoon while pouring to avoid drips.
  4. Once the gummies have been poured, insert the candy bones on top in the correct places and push down into the gummy. Toothpicks work well here.
    • Note: I prefer to insert the bones facing up as the bottom of the mold usually has gingerbread features. If your mold has those, the actual gingerbread features will be the bottom/back of your glob.
  5. Repeat the process for each Glob you wish to create. Once set, place the mold in the refrigerator for at least 2-4 hours (I usually leave them in overnight)
  6. The Globsnax should now be firm, but fairly sticky. Press the candy eyes to the face of your Globsnax and begin to remove from the silicone mold. While doing this, it helps to both coat your fingers in cornstarch and apply a small amount to the surface you will transfer the Globsnax to after removal. 
    • Note: The gummy will bend considerably before returning to shape, so as long as you are generally careful, you shouldn’t have any problems removing from the mold without breaking. As expected, going slowly works best.
  7. Once removed, coat the outside of the Globsnax surface in cornstarch. The cornstarch will neutralize the stickiness without impacting the taste,, and any excess can easily be easily brushed off.
  8. Once complete, the Globsnax are ready to be served or stored.
