Last Friday Marvel writer Ethan Sacks (Old Man Hawkeye. Old Man Quill) put out a teaser over Twitter.

This very simple teaser shows Roman numerals from 1-10, some in red, some in black, with the Marvel logo below. This would seem to be promotion for his upcoming WOLVERINE AND CAPTAIN AMERICA WEAPON PLUS #1 one-shot. But as good conspiracy theorists, we mustn’t be afraid to dig a little deeper.
There seems to be a trend in the color scheme here. The grayed out numeral seem to correspond several known Weapon Plus creations but it isn’t consistent. Weapon VIII has never been confirmed and Weapon II is a feisty squirrel. Still, there is meaning to this, we just need to unlock it.
Turning our attention to the solicit for WOLVERINE AND CAPTAIN AMERICA WEAPON PLUS #1 we find another clue. The text ends with the line “The conspiracy begins here!” The oddity about this line is that it doesn’t seem to continue anywhere that has been announced. The next month of solicits have come and gone with no mention of a follow up to this. With Johnathan Hickman commenting that there will be no X-Books outside of HOUSE OF X & POWERS OF X in September and October, perhaps we will have to wait for the follow up.
What all this means is up for interpretation. Perhaps the X in POWERS OF X being a Roman Numeral for 10 is telling. Perhaps this is tied to what Hickman is doing or one of the unannounced X-Books coming soon. Or perhaps this is just a poorly thought out marketing promotion for this one-shot. Mister reader. You could have solved this. I gave you all the clues.
